site.btaOvernight Stays in Accommodation Establishments Up 24.6% in September, Y/Y

The total number of overnight stays in all accommodation establishments in Bulgaria in September 2022 was 2,522,500, or 24.6% more than in the same month of 2021, the National Statistical Institute said Thursday.

In September 2022, 3,124 accommodation establishments with more than 10 beds - hotels, motels, campsites, lodges and other short-term accommodations with 134,200 rooms and 303,200 beds - were operating in Bulgaria. Compared with September 2021, the total number of accommodation facilities operating during the period increased by 19.6% and the number of beds in them - by 18.6%.

The number of people staying overnight in accommodation establishments in September 2022 increased by 26% year on year to 781,000.

The revenue from overnight stays in September 2022 increased by 39.3% compared to September 2021 and reached BGN 165.8 million, with BGN 103 million from foreign nationals and BGN 62.8 million from Bulgarian nationals.
