"All the unfavourable factors, the unstable and uncertain work environment, limited opportunities for true planning often made us feel that there's no way Bulgarian business won't fall into a deep stagnation. But what really happened is that this stagnation did not come to fruition. On the contrary, Bulgarian business is growing, the export figures are impressive and this is due to the fact that there are business leaders in Bulgaria who, with their qualities, courage, knowledge, are lead ahead through the trials to new heights," President Rumen Radev said Thursday evening at the ceremony of awarding the winners of the 15th edition of the Manager of the Year awards. The ceremony, held under the President's auspices, honours business executives for implementing good management practices.  BTA is a media partner of the contest for the second consecutive year.

Vladimir Spasov of M+S Hydraulic AD, was named Manager of the Year.

The President highlighted the difficult conditions for business and the unknowns facing it in 2022, pointing out that the year was extremely dynamic, tense, saturated with crises and challenges, such as the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, the ongoing second-year spiral of economic instability and the lack of a regular government with a long-term, clear horizon.

"I know the questions that concern you, the biggest is the uncertainty - will we have a new regular government, how long will the current Parliament live, what laws will it pass, will there be predictability in your activities," the President said, adding that he could not answer these questions, but assured that everything is being done to elect a regular sustainable government. "But until and when that happens, I can guarantee you that the caretaker government will continue to work every single day for you so that you succeed," the head of State said.

As examples of this, Rumen Radev pointed out that the caretaker government has managed to secure the finances for the operational programmes, the first tranche of the Recovery and Resilience Plan.  Most importantly, it has managed in just two months to draft all the missing laws that should unlock the way to the long-awaited reforms that will provide what's needed - rule of law, bringing the business environment out of the gray sector, stifling corruption and bringing predictability in different areas, the President said.
