Vladimir Spassov, managerial agent of M+S Hydraulic AD, is Manager of the Year in the 15th edition of the competition. The winner was announced by President Rumen Radev during an official ceremony at the Sofia Opera and Ballet late on Thursdy. The event is held under the patronage of the Head of State.
BTA is a media partner of the competition for a second consecutive year.
Spassov thanked his family and said it was a great honour for him to hold the statuette in his hands. He also thanked his team of 1,350 people who make M+S Hydraulics one of the world leaders in the field. “This award for me is a recognition that Bulgarian mechanical engineering is not forgotten and it has a future,” he added.
The Manager of the Year also addressed the other finalists, pointing out that each of them is worthy of the award. “The statuette looks like a ship sail, I want to wish each of us to be healthy and to have fair wind,” said Vladimir Spassov.
Before announcing the winner, President Radev highlighted the difficult conditions for business and the uncertainties it is facing in 2022, pointing out that the year is extremely dynamic, tense, saturated with crises and challenges, and highlighted the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis. He congratulated the business community for the results achieved in this difficult environment.
Then the ten finalists took the stage together and were applauded by the guests at the official ceremony.
Alexandra Mircheva, owner and publisher of Manager magazine, said earlier that the evening was special because the contest has become prestigious in these 15 years. “During that time, more than 930 companies from all sectors of the economy have submitted nominations.”
“This unique format aims to highlight the best practices of the best leaders and professionals who have dedicated their work to make our economy more competitive and forward-looking,” she said. She congratulated the ten finalists who, in her words, are making a change and driving forward the development of the Bulgarian economy.
The Manager of the Year was selected according to a special methodology of Deloitte Bulgaria.
Manager presented four new awards during the Thursday ceremony.
The Best New Business was presented to Ampeco Ltd. The company operates in the electric mobility sector and for four years has been one of the leaders in its field around the world.
Twenty-two companies competed for the Business in the Top 20 Million award and it finally went to Agroman Bulgaria AD. Since 2016, the company has been in the market for high quality machinery, equipment and mechanization for agriculture and environment.
The Business Transformation award was presented to Fadata Ltd, a company that deals with the digitalization of the insurance business.
Team of the Year went to Siemens.
