site.btaEU Posted EUR 45.8 Bln Trade Deficit in September, Bulgaria – EUR 5 Bln in January-September

In September EU exports totalled EUR 232 billion, up by 24% compared with September 2021 (EUR 187.1 billion), according to Eurostat data published on Tuesday. Imports from the rest of the world stood at EUR 277.8 billion, up by 48.2% compared with September 2021 (EUR187.4 billion). As a result, the EU recorded a EUR 45.8 billion deficit in trade in goods with the rest of the world in September 2022, compared with –EUR 0.3 billion in September 2021. Intra-EU trade rose to EUR 383. billion in September 2022, up by 26.1% compared with September 2021.

In January-September Bulgarian exports grew by 41% to EUR 35.8 billion, of which EUR 24.1 billion, up by 44% year-on-year, were to the EU and EUR 11.5 billion, up by 34% year-on-year, to third countries. Imports to Bulgaria grew by 46%, to EUR 40.9 billion. Imports from the EU totalled EUR 22.4 billion, up by 32% year-on-year, and from third countries stood at EUR 18.5 billion, up by 67% on an annual basis.

Between January and September, Bulgaria posted a trade deficit of over EUR 5 billion, compared with EUR 2.5 billion from previous year. Bulgaria posted a surplus of EUR 1.7 billion in trade with the EU and a deficit of EUR 6.8 billion in trade with third countries.
