At its sitting on Wednesday, Parliament established an ad hoc committee to review the issues with the shortage and high prices of firewood for the 2022/2023 heating season and to elaborate proposals for solving these problems. The proposal, tabled by Continue the Change, was adopted unanimously with 116 votes in favour.
The committee will have 14 members, two per parliamentary group, and will be chaired by Lyuben Ivanov of Democratic Bulgaria. They will work for a period of 30 days.
Caretaker Agriculture and Food Minister Yavor Gechev said that there will be firewood this winter, which does not mean that there are no difficulties. There are many municipalities experiencing difficulties in the provision of firewood. There are options for catching up on the corresponding shortages, he commented.
