site.btaTransport Experts Discuss Vision for Development of Rail Transport
Transport experts gathered on Wednesday at a conference in Sofia to discuss a vision for the development of the Bulgarian State Railways and intermodal transport. It is held under the auspices of caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Hristo Alexiev.
Participating are representatives of the National Railway Infrastructure Company, the Bulgarian State Railways Holding, the Higher School of Transportation and other institutions and organizations.
In an address to participants Deputy Transport Minister Krassimir Papoukchiiski said that the ambition of the Ministry is to develop rail transport, transforming it into an efficient, safe and desired form of transport.
The forum will discuss a number of reports on policies and priorities, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the development of intermodal transport in Bulgaria.
On the agenda will be the construction of a high-speed motorway between Sofia and Thessaloniki for speeds of 250 km/h, as part of a high speed thoroughfare Athens-Sofia-Bucharest.
