Caretaker Regional Development Minister Ivan Shishkov Thursday inspected the next stages in the construction of the Greece Bulgaria Gas Interconnector. He visited the Stara Zagora Gas Metering Station. Three separate activities are to be finalized: completion of a replacement fibre optic cable, construction of part of an access road and implementation of anti-erosion measures along the route. "These things must be completed as soon as possible," Shishkov said.
On November 22, a meeting with the builders will be held at the Regional Development Ministry to draw up a timetable for the implementation of the works.
These finishing works have not been completed so far due to the force majeure circumstances which led to the launch of the interconnector's commercial operation on October 1, Shishkov said.
These activities do not interfere with the operation of the pipeline, which carries all the requested quantities of natural gas and fully meets the contractual commitments. Between October 1 and November 15, the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector has cumulatively transported over 1.5 billion kWh.
National Construction Control Directorate head Delyana Panayotova took part in the inspection.
