site.btaUnemployment in Bulgaria Reaches 3.7% in Q3

In the third quarter of 2022, the number of unemployed persons in Bulgaria was 122.5 thousand, of which 70.8 thousand (57.8%) were men and 51.7 thousand (42.2%) women, reported the National Statistical Institute. Compared to the third quarter of 2021, the number of unemployed decreased by 18.7%. For the same period, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.9 percentage points and reached 3.7%.

Of all the unemployed, 14.4% have higher education, 54.7% have secondary education, and 30.9% have primary or lower education.

In the third quarter of 2022, long-term unemployed people (unemployed for a year or more) were 69.5 thousand, or 56.8% of all unemployed. The long-term unemployment rate decreased by 0.3 percentage points compared to the third quarter of 2021 and reached 2.1%, being higher for men (2.2%) than for women (1.9%).
Of the total number of unemployed, 19.6 thousand, or 16%, are looking for their first job.

In the third quarter of 2022, the unemployment rate for the age group 15 - 29 years of age was 8%, and compared to the same quarter of 2021, it was lower by 2.3 percentage points.
