site.btaDesign for Ruse-Makaza Motorway Tasked for Preparation
Regional Development Minister Ivan Shishkov told reporters on Thursday that he has tasked the design of the motorway from Ruse (on the Danube) to Makaza Pass (on the border with Greece). It transpired that the route will pass through the Hainboaz Pass, which links Northern and Southern Bulgaria. “By now the master plans for two sections of the future motorway, to Byala, have been approved,” said the Minister.
Another motorway will pass through the region of Stara Zagora, which will go from Hainboaz and will cross the motorways Trakia and Maritsa. This will be an extremely important route for Stara Zagora, because three motorways will pass through the region. “Economically this will benefit the region,” said Shishkov.
According to him, the tunnel under the Shipka Pass has been designed poorly because it has only two lanes, one in each direction but that’s how the bypass road of Gabrovo is built and it cannot be expanded.
