A hub for intellectual property and technology transfer at the inter-agency level will be built in Sofia together with the European Patent Office (EPO). This transpired at a meeting between Economy and Industry Minister Nikola Stoyanov and EPO President Antonio Campinos in Sofia on Friday. The talks were attended by the President of the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria (PORB) Vladia Borisova and EPO Principal Director for Co-operation and the European Patent Academy Telmo Vilela, the Economy and Industry Ministry reported.
The hub will be headquartered at the Sofia University Institute of Law, Economy and Intellectual Property. The aim is to generate growth at the regional, European and wider international level through the transfer of technology and knowledge from science to business. Expert capacity for technology transfer and for the commercialization of the scientific output and intellectual property items will be created in an innovative ecosystem.
It was noted at the meeting that EPO and PORB resumed their cooperation in August. Campinos praised the Bulgarian institution for being very active at the European level.
