site.btaRegulator Reports 11% Cut of Water Loss in 5 Years
Water loss reduction is described as a very positive development in the annual report on Bulgaria's water and sewerage sector for 2021, which the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) approved on Friday along with an annual analysis of the sector, the regulator said.
According to the report, total water loss in 2021 was under the usual 60%. It dropped by 11% in five years.
The water and sewerage sector registered improvements on 19 quality indices between 2017 and 2021, including water quality in large water supply zones, continuousness of water supply, technological accidents affecting water and sewerage networks, and water pressure. Other improvements have to do with water supply coverage, waste water draining and treatment, utilization of sediment from waste water treatment, rehabilitation and inspection of the water supply network, access to water and sewerage networks, and staff efficiency.
The report further says that water and sewerage operators are doing a better job than before in introducing information registers and databases.
It provides information on every water and sewerage company which had an approved business plan for 2021. Detailed data are available on the operation of registers and databases as well as the quality indices. EWRC has also assessed the attainment of quality standards, the implementation of an investment programme for 2020-2021 and the fulfilment of the universal efficiency benchmarks for 2020-2021. Information is also available on the reported levels of water and sewerage services of operators which did not have business plans.
