The Port of Burgas has all the prerequisites to become an important hub in the bilateral relations between Egypt and Bulgaria, said Egyptian Ambassador to Bulgaria Khalid Ibrahim Emara during a visit to Burgas on Friday. According to him, opportunities should be sought to develop the bilateral ties in economy, green energy, smart cities, exchange of agricultural produce and of tourists.
The visit was hosted by Port of Burgas Director Dian Dimov, who acquainted the guest with the port’s main activities and the opportunities for investment in the public access area. Also at the meeting were Port of Burgas Board of Directors Chair Ivaylo Todorov and Deputy Chair Maria Belkoleva.
They discussed with the Ambassador the opportunities for developing the Burgas port area, cargo loading and unloading opportunities, the conditions for cruise tourism, and future plans for the public access area’s expansion.
At present, the Port of Burgas services four ship spots through which various cargo is imported and exported, including from and to Egypt. The port mostly processes ammonium nitrate and technical salt.
The Egyptian Ambassador said he sees big potential in the Port of Burgas and the logistics bases in the city, which could turn into a hug for goods from and for Egypt. From Burgas the goods could be transported to the other European countries as well as from Europe to Egypt. He expressed his desire for acquaintance visits to be organized to discuss the opportunities for signing a cooperation agreement between the Port of Burgas and Egyptian ports.
