Bulgaria's investment regime needs to be updated and better protected if Bulgaria is to be a country that wants to attract investment, said Monday the Chair of the Board of the Union of Economists in Bulgaria, Prof. Dr. Tatyana Khubenova, who spoke on "The modern investment regime for business in Bulgaria: European and global challenges for change" during the fourth edition of the Business in the 21st Century national forum.
This year's theme of the forum is "Recovery and resilience after the crisis".
Khubenova highlighted the need to review the existing legislation and its implementation in terms of how the institutions protect Bulgaria's national interests regarding the investment regime. Bulgaria and Cyprus are the only EU countries that have not introduced national screening mechanisms for investments, she emphasized.
