site.btaHouseholds’ Deposits Approach BGN 70 Bln at End-October - Central Bank

At the end of October 2022, deposits of the non-government sector were BGN 112.4 billion (72.7% of GDP), increasing annually by 11.6%, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said on Wednesday.

Deposits of non-financial corporations were BGN 38.902 billion (25.2% of GDP) at the end of September 2022, a 23.1% rise year-on-year.

The deposits of financial corporations decreased by 14.3% annually and stood at BGN 3.4 billion (2.2% of GDP) at the end of the month. 

Household deposits amounted to nearly BGN 69.8 billion (45.1% of GDP), a 7.3% increase year-on-year.

At the end of October 2022, claims on loans to the non-government sector amounted to BGN 79.2 billion (51.2% of GDP) compared to BGN 78.6 billion at the end of September 2022. They increased annually by 13.1% in October 2022. 

Loans to non-financial corporations increased by 10.4% annually and at the end of the month amounted to nearly BGN 40.6 billion (26.3% of GDP). 

Loans to households were BGN 32.7 billion (21.2% of GDP) at the end of October 2022. They increased by 15.3% compared to the same month of 2021. Loans for house purchases exceeded BGN 16 billion and increased by 17.9% annually. Consumer loans amounted to over BGN 15 billion and compared to October 2021 they rose by 13.8%.

In October 2022, loans to sole proprietorships and partnerships without legal status increased annually by 10.6%, reaching BGN 446.8 million.
