site.btaMeat, Livestock Chamber Warns Farmers Are Ineligible for Aid Mitigating Effects of Ukraine War
In an open letter on Thursday, Meat and Livestock Bulgaria, a branch chamber of animal husbandry, warned that farmers are ineligible for a new scheme under the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which extends aid to mitigate the effects of the war in Ukraine.
It transpires that there is a limit, the equivalent of EUR 15,000. Which factors state aid received in liquid assistance to farmers to overcome the negative economic effects of the war in Ukraine in September, where the limit was EUR 250,000.
“The two schemes ae different and we believe that someone on purpose or inadvertently has tied the two schemes, one is national and the other is European,” the Chamber said, adding that livestock farmers are ineligible for the scheme.
The letter stresses the need for revisions as the deadline for applications ends on December 5.
If this does not happen the Chamber voices concern that branch will be liquidated and Bulgarians will consume only imports.
