site.btaBTA Director General Valchev: Cohesion Is Unity in Diversity, not Sameness

In his closing remarks at the kick-off conference for an EC-backed BTA project titled "EU in BG: Cohesion Future", BTA Director General Kiril Valchev said that it is important for cohesion to be understood as unity in diversity rather than as sameness.

The conference was held in the BTA building in Sofia on Thursday. 

"It is important for our friends and partners, with whom we are together in the European Union, to also understand that the purpose of cohesion is not to 'make it here the same as there', to impose models and lifestyles that have nothing at all to do with what we are used to and with our tradition," said Valchev. 

The participants in the Thursday event discussed the new aspects in the EU cohesion policy for the 2021-2027 period and the results achieved in the previous programming period, 2014-2020.
