The second day of the 22nd World Travel & Tourism Council Global Summit was dynamic and full of productive meetings, the Ministry of Tourism said on Thursday. In continuation of the talks with Princess Haifa Al Saud, the Bulgarian caretaker Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov held a bilateral meeting with Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Saudi Minister of Tourism. The two discussed Bulgaria's invitation for a Saudi business delegation to visit in February as well as the prospects for bilateral tourism development and investment in 2023.

Dimitrov also met with Mark Keam, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary for Travel and Tourism. The agenda included dental and adventure tourism. Dimitrov noted that some Bulgarian resorts already offer excellent medical and dental services. Keam and Dimitrov agreed that there is a huge potential for increasing tourism between their two countries. In the years before the pandemic, more than 150,000 Americans visited Bulgaria. In the first nine months of 2022 alone, the number is nearly 66,600, a 67% increase compared to 2021.

Dimitrov and Mitsuaki Hoshino, Commissioner at the Japan Tourism Agency, commented on the opportunities for bilateral tourism, noting that Japan is a potentially large market and requires huge investments.

Dimitrov also met with Maria Esperanza Christina Garcia Frasco, Secretary of the Department of Tourism of the Philippines, and with Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili.
