site.btaBovine Brucellosis Outbreak Detected in SE Bulgaria

An outbreak of bovine brucellosis has been detected on a farm in the village of Krainovo, Southeastern Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency said on its website. Six of the 100 animals on the farm are infected. 

The disease was detected during prevention activities under the brucellosis monitoring programme in Bulgaria. The infected animals will be culled in a humane manner.

All measures to prevent the spread of the disease will be implemented on the farm and on other premises in the locality where large ruminants are kept. Regular preventive sampling will also be carried out.
