site.bta5.1% of Bulgaria's Population Worked Mostly from Home by September 2021

As at September 7, 2021, there were 121,235 Bulgarians, or 5.1% of all, who said they were working mostly from home, show data on daily labour migration collected as part of the 2021 census and published by the National Statistical Institute on Friday. A total of 100,574 people, or 4.2% of respondents, said they did not have a fixed workplace. 

As at September 7, 2021, the biggest relative share of people worked in the settlement of their residence, 69.5% (1,661,017 people), while 20.7% (494,719) travelled to another town for work and 0.5% (13,086) travelled to another country. 

Daily labour migrants accounted for 18.6% of all employed at the age of 15 or over. Of them, 53% (262,238) lived in villages and 47% (232,481) in cities as at September 7, 2021. Fifty-six per cent of the labour migrants were men.

Just over 2% of respondents (21,522 people) said they were studying mostly from home. Those studying in the settlement of their residence accounted for 75.1% (610,621) of respondents, while 21.7% (176,440) travelled to another town and 0.5% (4,242) to another country.

Student migrants accounted for 21.7% of all students. Of them, 66.2% (116,819 students) lived in villages and 33.8% (59,621 students) in cities.
