site.btaNovember Sees Further Decline in Job Listings

There were fewer job listings in all sectors in November, the JobTiger.bg HR and careers website said in its monthly analysis quoted by the Bulgarian Industrial Association. Listings dropped by 4,000 (-9%) but still were 2% more than a year earlier.

The number of listings continued to decline in all sectors, with a steeper decrease in November. The number of listings in each sector declined by triple digits. The largest drop was registered once again in trade and sales, by 950 listings (-9%) compared to October.

Further down are the following sectors: manufacturing (900 fewer ads, 12% decline), logistics and transport (780 fewer ads, 16% decline), hotels and restaurants (570 fewer ads, 10% decline), administrative and support service activities (440 fewer ads, 9% decline), construction (260 fewer ads, 11% decline), IT (240 fewer ads, 3% decline), accounting, auditing, finance (190 fewer ads, 9% decline), healthcare and pharmacy (180 fewer ads, 3% decline) and marketing and advertising (120 fewer ads, 8% decline).

JobTiger's analysis shows that compared to a year earlier, the results in most sectors were positive: listings in November 2022 outnumbered those in November 2021. The only exceptions were accounting, auditing, finance (-2%) and IT, which saw a significant decline of 28% (approximately 2,200 fewer ads).

Distribution by sector

The distribution of job listings by sector remained the same as in October. Trade and sales topped the list with 23%, followed by manufacturing (16%) and IT (13%).

Further down were hotels and restaurants (12%), administrative and support service activities (11%), logistics and transport (10%), construction (5.1%), accounting, auditing, finance (4.8%), healthcare and pharmacy (4%), marketing and advertising (3%) and arts (1%).

Job ads suitable for refugees

The job listings suitable for refugees decreased by about 100 (4%) in November from October. Those ads numbered around 2,030, 6% of the total.

The authors of the analysis commented that quite a few employers around the world and in Bulgaria are increasingly taking steps to cope with a challenging economic environment: budget tightening, a partial or complete freeze of recruitment and even lay-offs in some places.
