site.btaDefence Minister: Whatever Weapons We Give Ukraine Will Not Compromise Bulgarian Army’s Capabilities
Whatever weapons Bulgaria gives to Ukraine, the Bulgarian army will not be affected and its capabilities will not be compromised, caretaker Defence Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said on bTV on Sunday. He was commenting on his Ministry’s proposal tabled at the Council of Ministers earlier this week on rendering military and military-technical assistance to Ukraine.
The proposal has already been tabled in Parliament, within the one-month period that the National Assembly had given the caretaker government to draft the document. On December 2, caretaker Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov told journalists the idea is to give Ukraine small arms and some ammunition.
Stoyanov told bTV that what Bulgaria is sending is in Ukraine’s top 3 of armament requested from Bulgaria. Bulgaria will not send anti-aircraft missile systems, MiG-29 and Su-25 aircraft. Bulgaria will send armament mostly for the Land Forces. Everything has been coordinated with the colleagues from Ukraine, he stressed, adding that he believes they will be content.
