In 2022, 96.1% of non-financial enterprises with 10 or more employees had access to the Internet. Some 89.1% of enterprises have a fixed Internet connection, and 45.7% of enterprises have a maximum data download speed that is higher than 100 Mbps, the National Statistical Institute reported.
The relative share of employees in enterprises that have access to the Internet is 40.2%. Portable devices with a mobile Internet connection for business purposes are used by 22.2%, and in a five-year period their share has more than doubled.
More than two-thirds of enterprises (67.5%) provided employees with remote access, with the highest relative share among enterprises with 250 and more employees (89%).
In 2022, 15.9% of businesses had employees whose primary job was to develop, manage, or maintain ICT systems or software applications.
Last year, 14.9% of enterprises sold goods and services online, and the turnover from e-commerce amounted to 6.9% of their total turnover. The relative share of those who carried out web sales through their own website or application was 10.7%, while 6.1% used electronic markets for trading goods and services on the Internet such as eBay, Booking.com, Amazon, Alibaba, eMAG, TimoCom, Glovo, Takeaway, etc.
Electronic sales through EDI type messages are carried out by 2.2% of enterprises. Of the enterprises that carry out online sales, 96.7% sell goods and services to customers from Bulgaria, 34.1% - to customers from EU member states, and 19.8% have customers from other countries. Over a five-year period, the relative share of businesses that sell goods and services via e-commerce has almost doubled.
