Power unit six of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant will be switched off for scheduled repair works to remove a fault in a heat carrier from circuit one to circuit two in steam generator three, the plant said in a press release on Friday. After monitoring registered indications for faults in the workflow, it was decided that the unit will be switched off prior to reaching the limits laid down in the technological regulation. The ongoing control so far indicates that the values do not exceed the standards for safe operation. No change is reported in the background radiation in the area of the plant.
After the fault is repaired, unit six will be switched back to the power grid.
Kozloduy's power unit five is working at full capacity.
In late October generator six had to be switched off after an incident during planned repair works.
