An American fintech company considers Bulgaria a suitable destination to expand its business. Portland-based Steamchain Corp, the company for global payments for  international commerce, is targeting markets in Eastern Europe, and Bulgaria seems like a very good hub for the purpose, CEO Dan Biggs said in a BTA interview from the US.

He was a guest at an international business and investment forum held in Portland, Oregon, on December 8. Organized by the InvestBulgaria Agency, it was part of a EU-backed project aiming to establishing Bulgaria as a successful investment destination.

Biggs said he was impressed by the forum’s presentation of Bulgaria as an investment destination. He added that his company is seeking to expand and work with companies making international payments in the Middle East and Africa. Bulgaria's geographic location presents a perfect opportunity for this, he said.

He believes there is a great opportunity for US companies indoing business in Bulgaria, and for Bulgarian companies in doing business in the US.

Asked if SteemCain could enter Bulgaria, this CEO said, "Absolutely!”

According to Biggs, some of the US business representatives he has spoken to have turned their attention to Asia. To him, Bulgaria seems to be a very interesting opportunity.

Asked how the worsening geopolitical environment is affecting the investment destinations that US firms are targeting, Biggs said the truth is there are always problems around the world, so countries and companies have to be quick to take advantage when an opportunity arises.
