Caretaker Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov said during the annual Tourism Awards ceremony on Tuesday that only with the united efforts of the state, the NGO sector and the business sector can success be achieved for Bulgarian tourism. For the second consecutive year, the awards are under the auspices of President Rumen Radev, who attended the ceremony.
Minister Dimitrov pointed out that the tourism industry is facing a series of crises related to the war in Ukraine, the refugee flow, high energy prices, and it is also experiencing staffing problems.
He said that Bulgaria’s tourism business is a winner because it has managed to successfully survive the last two difficult years. “Tourism is coming back at a furious speed, it is up to us whether we will be in the first carriage or at the end of the train,” Dimitrov said. He pointed out that Bulgaria has made it clear to all its major markets that it is ready to welcome visitors, adding that the winter season will be a record one.
The winners of the Annual Tourism Awards will receive certificates and statuettes depicting the symbol of Bulgaria's beauty and the trademark of the competition - the Bulgarian rose.
Among the official guests of the event are ministers, MPs, ambassadors, mayors, representatives of the academic community, businesses, and tourism organizations.
