site.btaBulgaria Had EU's Second Highest Increase in Final Energy Consumption in 2021 Compared with 2017-2019 Average

Final energy consumption in the EU reached 968 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe) in 2021, a 6.8% increase compared with 2020 and a 1.8% decrease compared with 2019, Eurostat said on Monday. Bulgaria saw the EU's second largest increase (+3.9%) after Romania (+7.5%) compared with the 2017-2019 average.

In 2021, primary energy consumption in the EU reached 1,309 Mtoe, a 5.9% increase compared with 2020, but still below the 2019 level (1,354 Mtoe). Primary energy consumption in Bulgaria increased by 1.5% compared with the 2017-2019 average.
