site.btaRoad Infrastructure Agency Expects BGN 800 Mln in Toll Revenues in 2023, Cheaper Vignettes Next Year

New prices of vignettes and toll rates in Bulgaria take effect from the start of 2023, the Road Infrastructure Agency said. They have been adopted by the government in June 2022.

All types of electronic vignettes for vehicles with a maximum permissible gross weight of 3.5 tonnes or less will be nearly 10% cheaper. The annual vignette will cost BGN 87, the quarterly vignette will be BGN 48, the monthly BGN 27, the weekly BGN 13 and the weekend vignette BGN 9.

Electronic vignettes purchased in December 2022, even if they have an activation period after 00:00 on 1 January 2023, will be calculated at the current - higher - prices valid until the end of this year. 

The toll revenue at the end of November 2022 was nearly BGN 511 million. Approximately BGN 268 million of this is from e-toll.

The expected revenues from toll payments in 2023 total around BGN 800 million. 

People with 50% or over of disability, as well as families raising children with permanent disabilities are entitled to a free e-vignette. 

The free electronic vignette does not follow the vehicle in case of transfer of ownership, the Road Infrastructure Agency says.
