Bulgarian caretaker Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov held informal meetings with hospitality industry executives in Varna and Burgas (on the Black Sea) on December 29 and 30, his Ministry said in a press release on Friday.

Such informal meetings will be organized in the rest of the regional capitals, too, during the next few months.

Over a glass of wine, the Minister and representatives of the key local tourism organizations exchanged ideas and discussed the problems and challenges that they encountered in recent months and that will be addressing shortly. The executives said they were gratified with what has been done so far, made recommendations, and shared their views about the most pressing issues.

Dimitrov reported on the work done by the caretaker cabinet since it took office five months ago and expressed his readiness to keep working for the cause of Bulgarian tourism. Among his priorities, he reiterated active, targeted and adequate market-specific publicity of the destination. He emphasizes that the government and the sector have a shared responsibility to carry on their concerted efforts for the assertion of Bulgaria's image through good practices and positive news.

Earlier on Friday, the Tourism Minister recalled in a Facebook post that a massive radio and TV campaign on the national tourist sites was launched in 2022. It will continue in 2023, and the wonders of Bulgaria (people, food, culture, history and nature) will get daily coverage on air under contracts that have already been signed with the media. Consistency here is key, Dimitrov added.
