Continue the Change have submitted in Parliament a draft resolution which obligates the government to hold talks with the European Commission for rescheduling of the country’s decarbonization commitments under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Radoslav Ribarski told a news briefing in Parliament on Thursday. The move has been prompted by the situation in Ukraine and the considerable delay of legislation changes in the field of energy

Ribarski said that the plan does not set out commitments to close thermal power plants. He said that the party has backed a declaration of the trade unions which aims to renegotiate the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Ribarski said that this is done to ensure the energy security of the region. The European Commission has launched a new instrument to guarantee electricity supplies. Bulgaria has to negotiate the best possible terms in the sector of energy in line with EU regulations and the new REACT-EU plan, added Ribarski.
