Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Hristo Aleksiev said in Parliament on Friday that his Ministry's policy is that Lukoil pays its taxes in Bulgaria, while all measures are taken to keep fuel prices going down.
Aleksiev reiterated that Lukoil paid BGN 90 million in advance tax to the public purse on December 20, 2022.
According to him, around BGN 600 million is expected to be paid to the state budget by Lukoil since the company moved its operations to Bulgaria. Aleksiev noted that at the same time fuel prices are decreasing.
He answered a question by GERB-UDF MP Delyan Dobrev, who requested information on whether Lukoil and its Swiss-registered parent company Litasco have already moved their operations to Bulgaria and whether they are making their profits in the country.
"We intend to proceed with our bill, which is for consumer compensation, providing for the seizure of part of the excess profits of the Lukoil group in the Energy Security Fund," Dobrev noted. He pointed out that he would be happy if the administration of the caretaker cabinet provided assistance in drafting the final texts.
