site.btaNov. 2022 Nights at Accommodation Establishments up 98.3% Y/Y – Statistics

The nights spent at all accommodation establishments in November 2022 totaled 855,000, including 607,000 by Bulgarian residents and 247,000 by foreigners, which is a 98.3% increase compared to the same month of the previous year, the National Statistical Institute said Thursday.

In November 2022, 71.8% of all nights spent by foreigners and 41.1% of all nights spent by Bulgarian residents were registered at 4- and 5-star hotels. A total of 19.1% of all nights by foreigners and 28.6% of all nights by Bulgarian residents were spent at 3-star accommodation establishments, while 9.1% and 30.3% were registered in the rest of the accommodation establishments (with 1 and 2 stars), respectively.

Total revenues from nights spent in November 2022 reached BGN 61.2 million, including BGN 39.2 million from Bulgarian residents and BGN 22.0 million from foreigners.

In November 2022, the total occupancy of bed-places at accommodation establishments stood at 24.4%, up by 8.8 percentage points compared to November 2021. The highest occupancy of bed-places was recorded in 4- and 5-star accommodation establishments - 31.8%, followed by 3-star accommodation establishments (24.2%) and those with 1 and 2 stars (16.6%).

In November 2022, there were 2,072 accommodation establishments functioning in the country, including hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed-places, with 57,500 rooms and 118,300 bed-places in them. Compared to November 2021, the total number of accommodation establishments increased by 32.1% and the bed-places in them - by 26.3%.
