In November 2022, all EU Member States recorded growth in exports to non-EU countries, except Estonia (-13.2%) and Cyprus (-10.6%). Slovenia (+61.1%), Bulgaria (+53.4%) and Malta (+50.6%) recorded the highest export growth, according to the first estimate of data released by Eurostat on Friday.

Exports of EU goods to third countries in November 2022 amounted to EUR 237.3 billion, or a 17.7% increase on November 2021. Imports amounted to EUR 258 billion, or an increase of 21.5%. That means the deficit stands at EUR 20.7 billion, compared with a deficit of 10.7% in November 2021. In November 2022, Bulgaria exported goods to non-EU countries worth EUR 1.4 billion and imported goods worth EUR 2 billion, registering a deficit of EUR 600 million.

For the January-November 2022 period, exports of EU goods rose to EUR 2.352 trillion, or a year-on-year increase of 18.7%, while imports jumped to EUR 2.771 trillion, or a 44.8% increase. The EU's overall deficit for the period stands at EUR 418.4 billion, compared to a surplus of EUR 69.5 billion for the January-November 2021 period.

Trade in goods within the EU for the January-November period grew to EUR 3.889 trillion, which is an increase of 23.8% year-on-year.
