site.btaAllianz Risk Barometer: Macroeconomic Developments - Biggest Risk for Bulgaria

Cyber threats and breaches in business activity are among the biggest concerns for companies at the global level for the second consecutive year, according to the 12th annual Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) Key Business Risks Survey "Allianz Risk Barometer 2023", released on Tuesday. Survey results are based on the opinions of 2,712 risk management experts from 94 countries, including CEOs, managers, brokers and insurance experts.

Macroeconomic indicators such as inflation, financial market volatility and the looming recession also climbed seven positions in this year's edition of the Allianz Risk Barometer to take the third position. The impact of the energy crisis is a new factor appearing on the scale, which takes fourth position in the ranking among 22% of respondents. According to the leading global financial services provider, this is all due to the global economic and political fallout from COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine.

In Bulgaria, experts identify the country's macroeconomic development, business disruption and the energy crisis as the three biggest risks. For local businesses, the unstable political situation, the crisis in Ukraine, financial policy and rising prices are among the most worrying factors affecting business. Cyber-attacks in the country are also not neglected, moving up five positions in the ranking and already occupying the fourth place in 2023 compared to the ninth place in 2022. A new risk for companies is also emerging on the Bulgarian scene, namely theft, fraud and corruption, according to 9% of respondents and occupying position number ten.
