Strong winds in Sofia have caused delays in flights at Sofia Airport and aircraft rerouting, Sofia Airport said on Wednesday.

After assessing the situation, five pilots have diverted their planes to land at Plovdiv Airport and a Romanian Airlines flight made a U-turn to Bucharest.

Sofia Airport is open and working in strong wind conditions and it is up to the flight captains to decide whether or not they will be able to make a landing, to circle over Sofia waiting for the wind to calm down, or to head to other airports.
