site.btaContract for Expansion of Chiren Gas Storage Facility Signed
A contract for the construction of new above ground facilities in Chiren was signed at an official ceremony on Friday.
The contract was signed by Nadya Stoykova of Bulgartransgaz and Maya Pencheva of the Tech Energy Expansion consortium.
The contract is worth 297,777 million leva and this stage of the expansion is expected to be completed within two years. The commitment has been made by Bulgartransgaz Executive Director Vladmir Malinov and Kalin Peshov of Glavbolgarstroy, one of the companies in the consortium.
Attending the ceremony were former EU Enlargement Commissioner Gunter Verheugen, who is currently president of the International Advisory Board with Glavbolgastroy, and Eddy Rowet of Solar Turbines which will supply the equipment for the compressor station.
With the expansion the capacity of the gas storage facility will be increased from 550 million cm to 1 billion cu m within two years.
