site.btaBTA, Mongolian News Agency Sign Agreement on News Exchange

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and the Montsame News Agency of Mongolia will exchange every day one piece of news which be freely accessible under an agreement signed on Tuesday by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and MONTSAME Director General Amartuvshin Gombosuren on the sidelines of the 18th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) in Tehran. Valchev attended the forum in his capacity as President of the News Agencies World Congress which Bulgaria hosted in 2018.

Under the agreement the two agencies will have full access to the news service of the other agency and rights to publish video and photographs. The agreement provides for expertise exchange and joint training.

MONTSAME Director General Gombosuren recalled that Mongolia is the only non-Slav country which uses the Cyrillic alphabet. He recalled that in Mongolia there is a monument to the Cyrillic script and accepted an invitation to visit Bulgaria which will be the first country that he will visit after he was elected as MONTSAME Director General this year.

MONTSAME was established in 1921, 23 years after BTA whose first news was published in 1899. In 2004 the first cooperation agreement between the two agencies was signed in Ulan Bator.

Bulgaria and Mongolia established diplomatic relations in 1950. More than 450 Mongolian students received their education in Bulgarian universities and over 3,000 Mongolians underwent training in Bulgaria..

During the OANA forum Valchev approached for similar agreements the heads of the national news agencies of Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Tadjikistan, Syria, Oman, Nepal, Malaysia, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Azerbaijan.
