The participants in the 17th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media, which is taking place in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv between November 1 and 3, visited Yad Vashem, the world Holocaust remembrance centre, on Wednesday.
This year's edition of the BTA-organized meeting is mottoed "Media and Salvation" and marks the beginning of observances of 80 years since the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews from deportation to Nazi death camps during World War II. Twenty Bulgarian media based in 13 countries are taking part in the gathering.
In addition to representatives of Bulgarian media worldwide, the delegation that paid tribute at Yad Vashem also included Bulgaria's Vice President Iliana Iotova, National Assembly Culture and Media Committee Chair Ivan Chenchev, Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov and Culture Minister Velislav Minekov.
Iotova lit the eternal flame of remembrance and signed the book of visitors. The delegation laid a wreath in the Hall of Remembrance.
The Yad Vashem memorial honours the six million Jews killed during World War II. About a million people from all over the world visit the place annually.
The World Meeting of Bulgarian Media is supported by Aurubis Bulgaria, Postbank and Dimitar Madzharov-2.
