The participants in the 17th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media, organized by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), visited the American Jewish Committee here and conferred with its Director Avital Leibovich to discuss Israel after the general elections held on November 1.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party ranks first in the early egenral elections and according to polls will get 30-31 seats in the 120-seat Knesset.
“When voting, Israelis are asking themselves the question whether the contender is capable of winning the next war or the next security challenge, Leibovich said.
There is much disinformation and fake news on social networks and the various platforms, Leibovich told a question. According to her, the question is how one can get accurate information, which requires reliable journalists and factchecking.
Israel is one of three countries in the world, where there is mandatory military service, she said, adding that all Israelis are connected somehow to the armed forces by either serving themselves or having relatives in the military.
She advised Bulgarian media to use the new media platforms and to invite once a year three or four Israeli journalists and show them the new perspectives and opportunities in Bulgaria.
