The Director General of BTA Kiril Valchev and the Rector of the Technical University of Gabrovo, Prof. Iliya Zhelezarov, signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement at BTA's press club in Gabrovo, Central Bulgaria, on Thursday. The two institutions will work together towards good and in-depth coverage of the initiatives of the Technical University, as well as in the organization of joint events.

"This is the 23rd university with which the agency is starting this type of partnership," Valchev said at the signing. He pointed out that 21 of the universities are in Bulgaria - specifically in Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Burgas, Varna, Shumen, Ruse, and Svishtov. Outside Bulgaria, BTA is in partnership with the Taraclia State University in Moldova.

Valchev said that internships with students are starting, which can take place either in the BTA press club in Gabrovo or in Sofia. The Agency is interested in at least two courses taught at the Technical University - communications engineering and computer systems, as BTA is carrying out a complete overhaul of its computer network. "Another direction that interests us is all technical majors where students can become specialized reporters," Valchev said, specifying that BTA offers internships to students.

"The signing of this agreement is an extremely important step in our partnership," said Prof. Zhelezarov. He pointed out that the University has both traditions and ambition for the modern. The first Bulgarian technology park outside the capital city was established in Gabrovo. The Rector said scholars at the Technical University have the ambition to create an innovation centre Gabrovo.

BTA also signed cooperation agreements with the Aprilov National High School, represented by its headmistress Elvira Hristova, and with the Regional Ethnographic Open-Air Museum Etar represented by Director Svetla Dimitrova, on Thursday.
