Bulgaria could receive the European Commission’s final affirmative answer to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan by March 15, and a formal approval in April, Finance Minister Assen Vassilev told Nova TV. The Government has responded to all recommendations, which are mainly in the transport and energy sectors, he added.
In the energy sector, the requirement is a decrease of the carbon imprint by 40 per cent. “The only commitment for the closure of capacities that we have made, is to close down capacities that do not meet the ecological standards at the moment,” Vassilev said, naming the Brikel and Bobovdol coal-powered plants. In his words, these capacities have barely been working in the last years anyway, having generated some 4 to 5 per cent of the coal-based energy in total.
