Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov met with NATO Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Roger Clutier on March 1, the Defence Ministry said on Wednesday. During the talks, measures related to strengthening NATO's deterrent and defence potential in Eastern Europe caused by the military action in Ukraine were discussed.
Bulgaria's decision to build an Alliance battle group was welcomed, and the possibilities for other nations to participate in it in order to increase the training and interoperability of the allies were discussed. The timeliness of the decision was emphasized, which is in line with the establishment of battle groups in other Eastern European countries.
On March 2, Cloutier will visit Bulgarian military formations and training grounds, where he will learn about the state of their capabilities and the opportunities for joint training and exercises.
