Prime Minister Kiril Petkov had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the government's press service said on Saturday night.

Petkov expressed admiration for the leadership and courage that Zelensky demonstrates every day, empowering the Ukrainian people amid a fratricidal war, the statement said.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister stressed Bulgaria's full support for all Ukrainians. Petkov was adamant that anyone fleeing the war would be warmly welcomed in Bulgaria, and this country’s institutions would provide the necessary assistance. For this purpose, services and ministries have been engaged to support refugees from the moment they cross the Bulgarian border.

Petkov also informed the Ukrainian president about the humanitarian aid that Bulgaria is sending to Ukraine in the form of hospital medical equipment and medicines.
