site.btaBulgaria Considers Closing Its Ports to Russian-flagged Vessels
Transport Minister Nikolay Sabev said on Bulgarian National Television (BNT) Saturday that Bulgaria may be closing its ports for Russian ships. That will be done after a coordination procedure with the European Commission.
“The Transport Ministry confirmed that it is possible to close down Bulgarian ports for Russian-flagged vessels because our national interest is to see the war end. The EU has been successful in setting in place an economic blockade and we believe that is the most efficient thing we would do at the moment,” Sabev said.
He said that no Bulgarian drivers are stranded in Ukraine.
Despite MPs’ comments that they were misled by the special services about the Russian invasion in Ukraine, Sabev said that the information the government had from the special services was “absolutely correct”.
