The Czech Centre in Sofia has put off an event commemorating film director and Czech cinema pioneer Vera Chytilová to screen films dedicated to Ukraine between March 8 and 11.
The Balkan Documentary Center, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Czech Embassy and the Ukrainian Embassy in Sofia organized a film programme focusing on Ukraine. The films were part of the first two editions of Sofia DocuMENTAL, the international festival featuring human rights films.
The programme started with The Earth Is Blue as an Orange, screened on March 8, and continues with This Rain Will Never Stop (March 9), Town of Glory (March 10) and The Trial: The State of Russia vs Oleg Sentsov (March 11). Apart from the last film, all can be viewed with English subtitles.
The screenings start at 6 pm in the Czech Centre. Entrance is free. Viewers can donate funds which will be handed over to the Bulgarian Red Cross in support of the Ukrainian refugees.
A discussion will be held after each screening.
