Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance Kalina Konstantinova announced Wednesday the leadership and structure of the crisis management task force focused on the war in Ukraine. Six working groups will operate in the task force which will coordinate the work of all institutions and will be headed by Colonel Valeri Rachev, Konstantinova said in a video address on the Government Facebook page.

“Today the Council of Ministers has decided on providing temporary protection, in compliance with the EU Directive, enforced for the first time in the history of the European Union. Temporary protection provides a number of facilities and forms of assistance to all people who have left Ukraine during military action,”Konstantinova recalled.

Starting Friday, all Ukrainians who arrive in Bulgaria and are seeking temporary protection, will be issued a special document of eligibility to legitimate sojourn in Bulgaria at all border checkpoints.

“This document shall give them both rights and obligations. On the one hand, they shall have access to the labour market, education, health care and social support. On the other, they shall be obliged to abide by the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria,” the Deputy Prime Minister explained.

Konstantinova recalled that the Government approved support in the form of 40 leva per day for accommodation and food. There are already some 30,000 in Bulgaria who have fled from the military conflict, she said. A national information portal will also become operational Wednesday and will feature all available information related to Ukraine.
