site.btaCOVID-19 Update: 1,693 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 11.3%

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 1,109,581, after 14,946 tests identified new infections on Wednesday, 74.07 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 11.3 per cent.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 445 positive tests, followed by Bourgas Region with 141 cases and Plovdiv Region with 114.

The active cases are 202,247. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 2,698, including 354 in intensive care. Of the 221 new hospital admissions, 84.62 per cent were not vaccinated.

The infected medical staff have reached 23,593.

Another 5,093 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 871,306.

Thirty-three fatalities were reported (90.91 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 36,028.

With 2,740 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,319,928 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 2,052,129 people are fully vaccinated, and 700,599 have received a booster jab.
