Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda Thursday discussed over the phone the threats that the war in Ukraine poses to this region and the millions of people looking to evade the conflict. To manage the migratory pressure from the growing number of Ukrainian refugees, a constant dialogue and coordinated effort from the Eastern European countries is required, the two heads of state concurred.
Since the beginning of the war, nearly 2 million people have already sought shelter in Poland, tens of thousands are located in Poland’s neighbouring countries. Eastern European countries are expecting timely action from the international community to support the efforts to provide the refugees with shelter, food, medicinal products, and education, it was noted during the phone talk.
Radev invited the Polish President to visit Bulgaria in the upcoming days, to further discuss the bilateral partnership in defence, among other fields.
