"Both the National Assembly Committee for the Prevention of Corruption and Continue the Change set top priority on the reform of the Commission for Anti-Corruption and Illegal Assets Forfeiture (CACIAF)," the parliamentary Committee's Chair Mihail Kambarev told journalists here on Tuesday.

In his opinion, the report submitted by CACIAF Chair Sotir Tsatsarov does not show the Commission's actual performance: how many immovable properties have been sold (rather than just placed under injunction), whether they have won or lost the forfeiture cases in court, and what detriment the lost cases have inflicted on the Exchequer. According to Kambarev, the CACIAF report states the number of case files initiated or of the cases examined.

"We will address this matter shortly," the Committee's Chair said.

"Even now, the CACIAF has working mechanisms but is reluctant to use them, which is why legislation needs to be amended," he added.
