The European Commission announced on Tuesday that it has approved the provision of 12.78 million euro in support of Bulgarian tour operators affected by the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funds will be provided directly and free of charge to all tour operators with a valid license to operate in Bulgaria, regardless of where they are registered and where their clients come from. The companies will be entitled to receive 35 euro for each passenger who has paid for their services, including a flight to Bulgaria.

The measure covers flights between 1 June 2021 and 14 May 2022. The aid will not exceed 2.3 million euro per recipient and will be provided by June 30. The decision of the European Commission is related to the temporary easing of the rules for state aid, the announcement explains.
