Prime Minister Kiril Petkov presented his Cabinet’s first 100 days in office in a written statement released by the Council of Ministers on Tuesday.

Petkov pointed out that his Government has been able to maintain steady electricity prices, the same as from the summer of 2021. In April, the Government will continue to offer financial support to businesses and raise its ceiling.

Petkov talked about the Government’s achievement in its efforts to handle the health crisis caused by the Omicron variant, about this country providing aid to Ukrainian refugees, and the successful closure of the technical questions regarding the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Petkov said that tackling corruption is a hard, slow process, which he explained with the lack of a functioning prosecution service. “A hundred days later we are on our way to close the corrupt specialized court and prosecution service. The legislation pertaining to the Counter-Corruption and Unlawfully Acquired Assets Forfeiture Commission's investigative functions is ready. Mr Tsatsarov is no longer heading this Commission,” the Prime Minister said.

Petkov talked about the strong resistance that his Cabinet is facing when trying to work in the public interest. “We are not pleased with the speed that change is taking place, but we are glad that it is taking place, whether fast or slowly.”
